The people behind the name

Miele_DGC_6660_XXL_x_673In 1899, engineer Carl Miele and businessman Reinhard Zinkann founded a company for the manufacture of cream separators in Germany. Their guiding principle became a strong business philosophy: “immer besser”, which means “better and better”.

Beginning with only four lathes and one drilling machine, they soon grew. Miele now has branches across Australia, Europe, North and South America, Asia and even Africa.

When Miele started producing ovens

In 1943, stoves and feed cookers were urgently needed by the German food industry, so Miele stepped up their production of these basic level ovens.
