Apple is well known for its strict pricing, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get your hands on the latest iPhones during the Black Friday sales.
If you’ve been holding out for the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max or iPhone XR but haven’t yet taken the plunge, this weekend might just be the right time for you to upgrade to Apple’s latest iPhone offerings.
While you won’t be able to get a discount on the phone itself, Telstra, Vodafone and Optus all have Black Friday sales running in conjunction with iPhone and mobile plan bundles. Each of the telcos are offering something different, so we’ve put together a comparison of how much you can expect to pay (and save!) on a 64GB iPhone XS plan.
Telstra iPhone plan deals
Telstra is running its $10 monthly credit offer across a range of products, including SIM-only plans, and fortunately this also applies to iPhone 24-month buy and lease plans. What this means is that you can pick up the iPhone XS, XS Max or XR (at any applicable GB memory capacity) on a range of lease or buy plans, and you’ll get $10 off the plan each month for the length of your contract.
As a sample, let’s look at how much you’ll save with the 64GB iPhone XS on a 24-month buy plan.
The Telstra Large buy plan is $124 each month — this is broken into $99 for the plan, and $25 for the phone. With the $10 discount, you’ll get a $124 plan for $114 per month. Over 24 months, you’ll pay $2,736 in total, which is down from $2,976 — giving you a total saving of $240 at the end of the plan.
Telstra’s Large plan includes 30GB of monthly data, plus 20GB of bonus data per month, in addition to unlimited standard talk and text in Australia, unlimited calls and texts to 15 countries, and unlimited ‘peace of mind’ data (slowed to 1.5Mbps).
This Black Friday offer is valid from Friday, 23 November 2018 to Tuesday, 27 November 2018.
Vodafone iPhone plan deals
Vodafone is running things a bit differently with its Black Friday offer, as the telco now separates device payments from mobile plans. While Vodafone is also offering Black Friday deals on select SIM-only and Samsung plans, you’ll get your iPhone savings in the form of loyalty discounts. However, these loyalty discounts are only applicable to certain plans, in conjunction with certain phones.
To sign up to a Vodafone phone and plan, you’ll need to pick the phone you want, and how long you want the repayment period on that phone to be — whether it’s 12 months, 24 months or 36 months. The longer the repayment period, the less you pay for the phone each month. Then, select which postpaid Vodafone Red plan you want: prices range from $35 to $80 per month.
For the 64GB iPhone XS, you’ll receive a $10 Loyalty Discount this Black Friday when you bundle your phone on the 36-month repayment plan, in conjunction with the $60 Red Plus Plan. Your phone repayment will be $45.25 per month over 36 months; with the $10 discount off the $60 plan, you’ll pay a total of $95.25 per month. Over the 36-month length of the plan, you’ll pay $3,429 altogether, down from $3,789 — so that’s a total saving of $360.
The $60 Red Plus plan includes 40GB of high-speed data (plus 40GB bonus data) per month, as well as unlimited slowed data (capped at 1.5Mbps speeds). You’ll also get unlimited standard national calls and texts, and up to 2000 standard international minutes each month.
This Black Friday offer is valid from Friday, 23 November 2018, to Tuesday, 27 November 2018.
Optus iPhone plan deals
Optus has a few different Black Friday deals going on, including discounts on select SIM-only plans. But if you dream of the latest iPhone with the maximum plan value on offer, you’ll find decent discounts on Optus’ top-level postpaid plans.
Right now, you’ll get 15% off Optus’ premium plan in conjunction with the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR across all applicable storage capacities (64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 512GB). Normally $125, this plan will get you 200GB of data each month, with unlimited standard national talk and text, unlimited standard international talk and text to 35 countries, and overseas roaming allowance. This plan also includes access to Optus’ entertainment extras (such as data-free streaming on a range of services including Spotify, Netflix and Stan).
If you were to go with an own-a-phone deal for the 64GB iPhone XS, you’ll get the $125 plan ($125 for the plan per month, with a $0 phone repayment) for only $106.25 each month over 24 months, thanks to the 15% discount. By the end of the 24-month plan, you will have paid $2,550, down from $3,000 — a total saving of $450.
Incidentally, Optus is also offering a $10 monthly price cut on all 512GB models of the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR. Pick up the maximum-capacity version on Optus’ lease or buy 24-month plans, and you can save $240 on your device payment costs over two years.
These Optus Black Friday offers are valid from Friday 23 November 2018 to Monday 26 November 2018.
While it’s hard to give a direct comparison over these three Black Friday iPhone XS deals, there are good savings across all three providers. Of course, when you’re looking at which mobile phone plan is best for you, a comparison of phone plans will help you find your perfect match.
Each of the telcos has something different to offer – so don’t forget to weigh up all options before you jump in on these Black Friday discounts.
