ActewAGL Energy Plans

ActewAGL’s retail service operates across ACT and extends to some areas of New South Wales, including Shoalhaven, Queanbeyan and south-east NSW. It generally has a few market offers in each area it operates and sells natural gas in some locations. The supplier also offers discounts when customers buy both their electricity and gas.

In Canberra, one offer requires customers to agree to bill payments via direct debit, while another offers cheap rates on a simple contract with no exit fees or lock-in contracts. There are also variations of the retailer’s ‘Home’ product available to households. Some of these products are only available on certain tariffs, and not all of these plans may be available at any given time. For example, the ‘Home’ and ‘Home Saver’ are on a single-rate tariff, while the ‘Home Saver Plus’ is on a block rate tariff. Finally, there is a standing offer tariff, however, it is generally more expensive.

ActewAGL GreenChoice

Customers may voluntarily opt-in for ActewAGL’s GreenChoice prorgam. Is ActewAGL right for me?

As a company backed by AGL, one of Australia’s largest integrated energy companies, ActewAGL is able to use its experience and market power to offer customers competitive deals. That’s not to say ActewAGL will be the cheapest retailer for all customers, but you can at least be assured you are being looked after by a company that knows what it’s doing. A feature that particularly distinguishes it from other retailers is its guaranteed discounts. Most retailers will only give you a discount if you pay on time or pay via direct debit. If you often struggle to meet these requirements, ActewAGL is definitely worth considering.

Of course, discounts aren’t everything. In order to ensure you’re receiving the best deal on power, be sure to regularly compare electricity providers with Canstar Blue.
