Riverdale season 3 hits Netflix Australia

Listen up Southside Serpents, River Vixens, and everyone in between – Riverdale is back!

That’s right, the hit CW teen series is returning to grace our (Netflix) screens tonight (October 11), with the long-awaited season three premiering. That means a whole lot more Bughead, milkshakes at Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe (hopefully with no more shootings), and a new killer roaming around the town.

Episodes will be dropping on Netflix on a weekly basis on Thursday nights, just a day after the hit show airs in the U.S. So, there won’t be any binge-watching – unless you can wait until the season is over (likely story) or you’re playing catch-up.

Season two of the hugely successful drama saw the ‘core four’ – Betty Cooper, Archie Andrews, Veronica Lodge and Jughead Jones – forced to deal with some pretty grim stuff. Gone were the days of Archie struggling to choose between music and sports, or the love triangle between Archie, Betty and Veronica. Season two explored the aftermath of Fred Andrew’s shooting, introduced the killer ‘The Black Hood’ and saw the uprising of the unlikely villains Hiram and Hermione Lodge.

Season three will pick up from the finale, where Archie was framed for a murder he didn’t commit. The first episode in the teaser trailer shows the heartthrob in handcuffs and then later in jail, and cast members have been sharing behind-the-scenes shots of a courtroom – so we can expect some juicy legal drama.

Other highlights that have been leaked include a flashback episode where the core four play their parents, and this is apparently when we will meet the monster of the season – the Gargoyle King.

The new season will also see the highly-anticipated arrival of Jughead’s mum and little sister Jellybean, played by Gina Gershon and newcomer Trinity Likins.

So, are you itching to watch the first episode the minute it drops? Luckily Netflix has your back, and has posted a time map revealing the exact time episode one will become available to stream in each state. See below.
