KEY POINTS
- This page explores a handful of the best energy switching deals and sign-up bonuses on offer by electricity retailers.
- Whether energy switching deals are worth it depends on how much they can save you over plans with lower rates or other discounts, or how much you value reward point bonuses.
- We recommend comparing the cheapest electricity plans on our database with Canstar Blue’s comparison tool, regardless of any ongoing discount or promotion.
Please note that this page may not cover all deals available in your area or compare all types of ongoing discounts. Always check retailer websites before making a purchase decision.
Our editorial team examines deals currently on offer from some of Australia’s most popular retailers and evaluates them based on the sign-up bonuses and incentives they offer.
There are many offers available from providers at any given time, and the best energy deal or offer is going to be different from person to person, depending on your household energy needs.
If you’d like to compare energy plans (with or without sign-up bonuses) in your state to find one that is best suited to your needs, visit Canstar Blue’s comparison tool by clicking the button below.

Are energy switching deals worth it?
Whether or not energy switching deals are worth it depends on:
- If the dollar value of the switching or bill credit bonus saves you more than plans with lower usage and supply rates or other types of discounts.
- If you intend to maximise the bonus rewards points on offer in exchange for discounts or free experiences/products.
The deals and promotions listed above strictly focus on welcome or sign-up discounts. Today, retailers are eager to offer other forms of conditional discounts and/or guaranteed discounts to further tempt customers to make the switch.
Be it pay on time, direct debit discounts or other forms of deals, it’s hugely important not to get too carried away with promotions and to compare plans based on their standard pricing and conditions first.
If you find two similar products and can’t decide between them, then sign-up incentives are worth considering before making the final decision.
But before committing to any one plan, we highly encourage you to shop around with Canstar Blue’s free comparison tool by clicking the button below. Shopping for electricity plans from different retailers ensures you’re securing the best deal for you, regardless of discount or promotion.
