Refer-a-friend deals on NBN plans

Refer-a-friend deals are not a new concept, but it’s fairly uncommon to see them in NBN plans. However, more and more providers are offering customers incentives to get friends and family on board, and you can save some money on a single bill or ongoing bills by referring a mate to your telco.

In this article we’ll be going through refer-a-friend deals you can get through NBN providers. Keep your eye out for a bargain, and depending on the provider and the plan, you could save a lot of money. Keep in mind that this article does not include additional offers.

How does refer-a-friend for NBN work?

Typically, if you can refer a friend to an NBN provider, who then signs up, and you can prove this through the NBN’s own refer-a-friend system, you’re doing it right and you should get the friend referral bonus. Some providers need your friend to use a special URL when signing up for an NBN plan, and some providers need your friend to mention your name and account number at the checkout, but just make sure you know how to get the refer a friend deal before attempting this.

If all is well and you and your friend follow the right referral steps, you could see a credit enter your account, or a discount added to your bill. What NBN providers offer in the form of refer-a-friend discounts vary widely, but we’ve outlined where you can find deals below.

Are refer-a-friend deals worth it?

For a lot of the above deals, referring a friend can be a good way to save some cash – and even a way for your friend to save some money, but keep in mind that you might not have a lot of opportunities to use a friend referral discount. That is unless you have a lot of friends looking for NBN providers – in which case, save some money and refer as many as you want.

Does my telco offer a refer a friend deal?

Not every telco offers a refer a friend deal, but the handful of NBN providers above do. You might be able to find a refer-a-friend deal from your provider if you go looking, but such deals are not offered by most providers.
