OPPO Find N3 fold phone

OPPO banking on foldable phones with the new Find N3

The big phone announcements keep coming and this time it’s from OPPO. The brand’s latest addition to its premium Find series is the foldable OPPO Find N3. Earlier in the year, OPPO released the Find N2 Flip, its own version of a flip phone with a foldable screen. Now, the Find N3 brings the tablet-size foldable phone to the OPPO family.

The Find N3, much like its Samsung competitor the Galaxy Z Flip 5, combines the experience of a standard smartphone when folded, but the functionality of a tablet when fully open. But this big foldable phone comes with a big price tag: $2,699 AUD RRP.

“As we prepare to introduce the new OPPO Find N3 foldable smartphone to the Australian market, we’re thrilled to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation. The Find N3 is not just a smartphone; it’s a gateway to a new era of mobile experiences,” said Michael Tran, OPPO Australia Managing Director.

“Our 2023 performance has been strong, particularly in the premium space where we’ve introduced these new form factors. Building on the local success of the Find N2 Flip earlier this year, we’re confident that the Find N3 will captivate Australian consumers with its stunning design, groundbreaking technology and uncompromised viewing experience.”

While there is currently no confirmed release date for the OPPO Find N3, it will be available to buy from retailers in Australia from mid-November.

The stand-out feature of the OPPO Find N3 is of course its large size and foldable screen, essentially taking you from a standard phone to a tablet. You’ll get a 6.3-inch external AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, while the internal AMOLED display is 7.8 inches unfolded and also has up to 120Hz refresh rate.

Both screens have up to 2,800 nits peak brightness to improve visibility in all sorts of conditions, including direct sunlight. There’s also an improved speaker performance, with three speakers for left and right-channel stereo sound whether you’re holding the phone horizontally or vertically, along with Spatial Audio.

OPPO touts its third-generation Flexion Hinge as part of what makes the Find N3 a more durable, thin and light foldable phone, despite its smaller size when compared to the previous generation hinge. It has also been independently tested by TÜV Rheinland to withstand one million folds.

Backing up its flashy foldable tech, the OPPO Find N3 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. With its OPPO Dynamic Computing Engine, it’s also meant to handle over 40 apps running in the background, making for a powerful and efficient performance. You’ll also get a 4,800mAh battery with up to 67W SUPERVOOC fast charging, which can charge up to 80% in 30 minutes.

As for its cameras, you’ll get a triple rear camera setup with pro-grade cameras — 48 megapixel wide, 48 megapixel ultra-wide and 64 megapixel periscope telephoto — with 14mm, 24mm and 70mm equivalent focal lengths. For your selfies, you’ll get a 32 megapixel selfie camera on the external screen, while the internal screen has a 20 megapixel camera.

The Find N3 includes Android 13 with ColorOS 13.2, and you’ll get four years of software updates and five years of security updates. You’ll also get productivity features to make the most of the phone’s tablet-esque size when unfolded, including OPPO’s Boundless View for using two full-screen apps across the internal screen, along with the Global TaskBar with App Library, plus File Pocket for easy file and app access.

The OPPO Find N3 will only be available in the Classic Black colour with vegan leather finish in Australia, for $2,699 AUD RRP. The on-sale date and stockist availability will be announced in the coming weeks.
