Powershop slings $150 to customers who ditch their current provider

Powershop is slinging big energy bill savings to new customers who ditch their current provider and switch their home power plan.

The retailer is currently awarding households with $150 when they sign up to the returned Switch Saver offer in New South Wales, Victoria or south-east Queensland.

Customers will be paid the credit as a one-off payment on their first bill, however they must be a new Powershop customer in order to be eligible.

The Switch Saver offer mirrors the retailer’s flagship 100% Carbon Neutral plan, coming with variable rates on an ongoing contract. There is also no exit, credit card or paper billing fees and monthly billing options are available.

Additionally, Powershop guarantees carbon offset electricity for customers at no extra cost. This means that Powershop will offset the equivalent to each customers’ carbon emissions from their electricity usage through government schemes and certificates.

Is Powershop worth the switch?

Despite its shock ownership turnover a few years ago, Powershop appears to be holding steady in the electricity market and states that it remains committed to helping customers and the environment in its practices.

In addition to providing carbon offset options to its customers, the retailer also offers GreenPower options for a small extra cost. This allows Powershop to match customers’ energy usage with energy generated from renewable sources as part of the government’s accredited program. While this won’t ensure the customer has 100% renewable energy usage in their home, it does allow more renewable sources to enter the electricity grid on the customers’ behalf.

Outside of its environmental commitments, Powershop positions itself as a fairly price competitive option for households and even earned itself Canstar Blue’s Outstanding Value Award for electricity in NSW and VIC in 2022. The retailer has also previously ranked well in Canstar Blue’s Most Satisfied Customers ratings for electricity providers in VIC.

Plus, for solar conscious households in NSW, the retailer has begun offering solar-specific electricity deals, which award customers with a higher return on their solar exports than their standard plans.
