Powershop promising “very generous savings” with limited-edition packs

Powershop is promising customers “very generous savings” in September as it continues its mission of informing Aussies about its renewable energy credentials.

The electricity and gas retailer will be releasing five special promotion powerpacks during the month to raise awareness of its parent company’s energy generation assets.

Owned by New Zealand-based energy generator and retailer, Meridian Energy, Powershop has shifted its marketing approach in recent years, away from being the noisy upstart poking fun at the big power companies, to focusing on the credentials that saw it ranked the greenest energy retailer in Australia.

The five special promotion powerpacks for September – named after Meridian Energy’s renewable energy assets – are being released shortly after Powershop rewarded customers with a day of free electricity usage in celebration of its wind turbines generating extra power because of recent windy conditions.

Powershop’s Chief Customer Officer, Catherine Anderson, said the five promotional packs will only be available to existing Powershop customers.

“Given that it takes some time for new customers to completely switch over, these Powerpacks will only be available for current customers that have access to the Powershop shop throughout September. But not to worry, we offer special Powerpacks regularly (a couple of times a month), so new customers can keep an eye out for the next month’s specials,” she said.

Powershop appeals to energy customers who like to engage with their retailer, not only through the use of its smartphone app to monitor electricity usage, but also through the regular special offers it runs.

“Customers love snapping up these specials when they see them on social media or get a push notification. It’s just another way customers can save even more,” said Ms Anderson.

“Engagement rates can vary, but most customers know to grab them when they see them. There’s plenty of other Powerpacks available too that customers can grab – some customers prefer paying about three months usage upfront by purchasing the Mega Pack. This gives them the highest discount we have available.”

Powershop specials

What are the special powerpacks and how much will they save you?

Named after Meridian Energy’s renewable energy generation assets in Australia, the five special powerpacks from Powershop are called:

  • Hume hydro
  • Mount Mercer wind farm
  • Mount Millar wind farm
  • Keepit hydro
  • Burrinjuck hydro

When asked how much customers can expect to save with these packs, Ms Anderson said: “These limited edition special Powerpacks have different discounts attributed to them. Customers can save anywhere from 20% to over 50% off their usage for the day. We want our customers to engage with us during these specials, so the higher the discount offered, the more limited the window to buy will be within the Powershop shop.

“This is just one of the many ways we aim to keep prices down and connect with our customers in a fun and engaging way. After all, who doesn’t love a bargain?”
